Landscaping Japanese Garden??

I'm working on a landscaping project for school and I need to make a Japanese garden suitable for Montana. So I need plant substitutes. Iike plants I can use that are similar to Camellia, Bamboo, Japanese Stewartia, Flowering quince and Black Mondo Grass
