Restraining Order for In Law and Supervised Visitation with Father?

My question is the following. Am I able to get a restraining order on my Mother In Law to keep her away from my 8 Month old son being that she is suicidal. She has threatened to commit suicide over simple things showing she is mentally unstable to be around my son. Another question is am I able to request supervised visitation for my son with his father being that he has bought, sold, and distributed drugs also done marijuana, cocaine, etc.?

You certainly can request those things but there is some burden of proof that is needed to obtain one. Does you child's father have an arrest or citation record that supports your claim, or are there credible witnesses who will back you up in court. Can a neighbor, medical person, police officer or other family member (with no ax to grind) verify that they have witnessed or overheard suicidal behavior or threats in your mother-in-law. Even if you don't have evidence or support for those concerns, you should make the court and any social workers involved area of your concerns, citing specific reasons.

Yes, and Yes. Have your lawyer file the paperwork with the judge, be prepared to show proof of drug use. If he's been arrested for buying/selling/using, that should be sufficient.

Hiring a lawyer for minor legal problems can be expensive, but there are websites like LawGuru, FindLaw and other places where you can get free legal advice. I found this website useful - http://www.uelp.org/freelegal.html
