If you are a legal Immigrant that has migrated to the United States, what do you...

...think of illegal immigrants? I have heard legal immigrants criticize illegal immigrants. I am not one of those because what I rationalize is that if you are an immigrant from a 3rd World Country, if your country was right next to the richest country in the world, wouldn't you think that the people of your country - those that have no chance of attaining a visa because they live in extreme povery - would be doing what illegal immigrants from Mexico are doing? Surely you can counter saying - hey, my country is not right next to it. That would be ignorant. Also, you can counter saying people from my country wouldn't do that - but the fact is they would because desperate measures call for desperate action and knowing that all you have to do is cross by foot one point to another would not hold you back from doing it. In no way am I defending illegal immigration, but I'm just making a point to those of you who criticize with disregard to the humanitarian factor in this matter. Do you agree or disagree with me?

People assume they just hop over the border like it's a piece of cake. It is most certainly not.

Lots of Americans assume the Mexicans that immigrate here illegally are looking to rape children or sell drugs. Some do that, but certainly not the majority. It is harder for Mexicans, for example, to get their passports and visas, everything they need to come here legally. It costs a good chunk of money, people are refused visas for stupid reasons, and many are so desperate that they will risk their lives to come over here and take a sh-tty job just so their family can eat a good meal every day. They will endure pesticides on an orange picking farm with a hot sun and hardly any water. They will cross the border and die in the middle of the journey from lack of food and drink. They will hand over all their money to a person they believe they can trust to help them, only to lose it all and have to start over again. All of this is because they want a better life. These people are not selfish.

Sorry, I rambled :|
