| Is David Cameron Right To Say Sharia Law Would Lead To 'Legal Apartheid'...?
...if introduced in the UK? Is there a case for it's introduction into UK law where there are centres of the population which are largely Muslim, or is David Cameron right to rule it out? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/02/26/nsharia126.xml Muslim Sharia law would undermine society if it was introduced in Britain, Conservative leader David Cameron said today. His words put him at odds with the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams who earlier this month suggested some element of Sharia law was unavoidable. He added that "state multiculturalism" was also the wrong way to tackle integration. He said: "I don't believe that by introducing Sharia law, we will make Muslims somehow feel more British - more content with life here and more happy to work for a common good. "In my view the opposite is the case: I think it would be to head in the wrong direction..." |

Completely right. We would have ghettoes. What would happen if a non Muslim commited an offence in these areas. Next they would be wanting independence for Bradford and Leicster If they want to live under that law they should re emigrate to another country. |

I'm in favour of it on the face of things as long as they are regarded as domestic courts like the MBA and The Law Society and other professional Courts but always subject to English or Scottish Law) However these contemptuous people will have no intention of accepting this and will seek to undermine the English law and therefore it should not be permitted under any circumstances whatsoever. If it is being quietly winked at it should cease forthwith and if they do not like it they can go elsewhere I care not where |

It's not often that I agree with Cameron, but this time I'm forced to concede that he has a point. We can't allow a system in our society where we have one set of laws for a specific group of people and another set for everybody else. That is the road to chaos and anarchy. Besides Sharia law is far too close to the kind of law and order policies that right wing extremist groups like the BNP propose for my liking. We can't allow extremism to be let in through the back door. |

He is completely right to rule it out. I don't care if there are areas of the country where large centres of the population are muslim, this is still Britain and they should abide by British rule and law! He is right in all areas of this. Multiculturalism doesn't work and should be abolished. |

David Cameron has no views of his own. He goes along with the mob in the forlorn hope that there may be a few votes in it. There was nothing wrong with what Rowan Williams had to say. He knew that Murdoch's press would misreport it, but he said it anyway. If you want to know what he actually said, it's at http://www.archbishopofcanterbury.org/1575 but the truth is always more boring that the reports. We have various sets of laws and rules in the UK. Civil law recognises that they exist. Catholics, Orthodox Jews and Freemasons have their own rules. Why should Sharia be treated any differently? |
