| Help me. I have two options regarding my in laws seeing our newborn and neither...
...is looking rosy. Details~? Option 1~ They come to visit this summer when I'm six months pregnant (they never wanted to visit before i was pregnant, so I'm a little put off, honestly) and then we visit them with our newborn.
Pros: they can't comment on my cooking or home after I have the baby, and I get to enjoy the first weeks of baby's life without houseguests. This is so important to me.
Cons:hubby doesn't have enough vacation days for all this visiting, so I'll be stuck at home with his in laws. We have one car so baby and I would have to shuttle dad around if we wanted to go anywhere, no way am I leaving babe with MIL and FIL. Another huge con is who wants to fly with a newborn? Jeeeeeez.
Option 2~ they don't come to visit in the summer (yes!) but they come to stay with us for two weeks after we have the baby, like right after...
pros-I don't have to spend money on plane tickets. I only have to see them once.
Cons- HOUSEGUESTS. NEW BABY. NO THANK YOU. Also hubby won't be able to take the time off.
(because he can't take off the first week when the baby is born and then the next week when his parents are here, whereas if we went to see them we'd go at LEAST a month later so he could take time off.)
They seem VERY averse to staying in a hotel, they're kind of old school in that way. Maybe it would be the best thing, but they're very cheap and I'd also have to rent them a car. I think a week or two of hotel rooms and rental car is going to cost way more than 2 plane tickets.
Hubby is leaning toward visiting them, because he thinks it will be better for us AND nice to see them for the holidays, whether it be Thanksgiving or Christmas. (the holidays should provide a great distraction!)
My husband IS going to be home with me after we have the baby, for at least 9 days.
