What's the exact law on student-teacher relationships?

Basically, I'm aware that it is against the law for a member of staff to have a sexual relationship with anyone under the age of 18, however I am curious as to whether when over 18 it is acceptable in the eyes of the law. As well as this, does it still count after the student has graduated from the school or the teacher has left?
