Why Can't I get on with my brother-in-law? We should be best mates.?

I can honestly say I have never met anyone who I should get on with more than my brother in law, He has exactly the same weird taste in music, the exact same interests, even a really weird interest I have, supports same football team, even likes same foods. However in my 5 years knowing him we have never spoke more than to say hello to each other, we are both very very shy, we are followers of conversations rather than leaders.

My wife says we are to alike to get on, can this be true? It annoys me because you should really get on will with your inlaws but we can'r
