You can burn your CD's and DVD's onto your hard drive, because it is covered under the fair use law. Just like you can burn copies of your cd's that you use in the car because you don't want to scratch up the original disc, because that 1979 version of Donnie and Marie might be a collector item someday. Do not reproduce onto media and sell them for a profit. Because that is stealing and the RIAA will come down on you like a bag of hammers! Then you will see what expensive can be.
