Do "Baby Moses" laws apply to men? Should they? The idea is that you can drop off an unwanted baby, under a certain age (Ive seen between 7-60 days) "no questions asked" and it will be anonymous and not a crime. They will NEVER try to contact you afterward. They want to prevent abandoned babies. If the baby is already born, then it is no longer "the woman's body". Does the father have any say or recourse on the matter? How is this different than a father not paying child support? (other than being potentially much more gruesome) I don't know all the details of the laws, so please inform me.

Cliffie, Sometimes the father knows that the child will be surrendered. At that time, I think a father could make a case for custody. Too much of the time, the father is unaware. Because desperate women left their children to die they were given this alternative in order to save the life of the child. The child becomes a ward of the state and though never having the information about his parents or their support the child has a chance at a life. C.

I don't really understand what you are asking. Are you asking if it is ok for a man to drop off an unwanted child? Well yes it would be since there are no questions asked. If you are asking about if the woman drops off the unwanted baby, but it ends up the father really wanted it, then if he comes forward, yes, he can file for custody of the child. The law was made to curb abortions and unwanted newborns being left in garbage cans, not some vast conspiracy to keep men from their children.

If you father a child and the woman drops the baby off and you want the kid, then you can file for custody but honestly if they don't know who the mother is i don't know how they would be able to check to see if the kid was yours DNA maybe I don't know how it would work with child support though, you probably wouldn't be legaly entitled to it because you would have to adopt the baby, but thats a very good point...
