| Can my ex-sister in law move my brother's grave site?
I live in Fl. My brother died in 1974. About 4-6 mo. later his wife remarried, Left our family, has not been in contact with us for the past 30 yrs, she will occ. put flowers on his grave site. But never visit our parents. She has been quoted to have said that if my parents bother her about anything she will move his grave site. My parents are now 84 and 90 yrs. old. They get upset about this possibility and when she does put flowers on the grave site she moves things aournd, vases, a cement bench that was put there by my parents. Before I have a talk with her about all of this, I need to know if she can move him against my parents wishes

contact the place where your brother is buried and ask them what the law says about who can lawfully have the remains moved. She is after all his widow, next in line are children, then parents, then siblings. SO, your parents could actually contact the cemetary and ask to be notified if anything like that is requested.

I am assuming that she can, but it will be pretty expensive for her to do so. It sounds like she is more talk than anything else. I dont know why she is behaving so childishly, I mean yeah., she was his wife, but those are his parents, who raised him to be the man he became. If you want you can double check with and attorney to see if she can still move the body, or if she gave up those rights when she remarried, but this woman needs to understand that your parents are older, and are not in the least interested in bothering her. She just needs to grow up |

I am not completely sure if they can move them. But the process of putting them in the ground is very complicated and they are not going to dig someone up and just move them cause she wants them too. They will tell her if she wanted him somewhere else then that is where she should have put him. They have to line the whole where people are buried so chemicals and others things don't get into runoff water. So no they won't. The only reason they usually do that is if there is warrant to do so with the police. And to me she sounds like a golddigger. And you parents can also say it is against his to be buried up. It interferes with the afterlife process. Makes it sound good....
