Clem KiddelHopper has a spectacular aura about
Who remembers the "chair" punishment from Marine Boot Camp?

I am sure everyone recalls this neat way for the Drill Instructors to get your immediate and undivided attention, how long were you able to hold this position before your legs began to wobble and you felt like your butt was going to fall off your body? Especially, when you had to hold your arms straight out in front of your chest, palms down?

Any Jarheads remember this 'fond' memory from Boot Camp?
Gotta have explosions: This method and others, especially "thumping" were not cruel, it was one of their ways of getting your immediate attention, and believe me, it works. It got mine!
