| Army or Marine Corps?
The Army has better benefits and a lot of my family was in it. However the Corps seems like a far superior fighting unit and also has a lot more unity, comradarie and all that jazz. Either way I'd join up as an infantryman. Any thoughts? I'm leaning pretty hard towards the Corps but I'm just not 100% positive. |

What's the matter? In trouble with the law or can't afford college? I think you should only join the military as a last resort or as an officer candidate after college. Don't get me wrong, no one is more grateful for our military than I am. But, if you are an intelligent capable young person there are so many better paths to take in life than being eager to get your legs blown off. Real war is not like video games. You can't hit restart when you get killed in Iraq. Even if you don't have any other options pick a position that you will learn a skill that will help you in life after the military. Last time I checked there were not too many listings in the classified ads for infantrymen with one arm and shrapnel in their chest.

The benefits are all the same. Either way, it's not an easy life. The Army would be an easier way to go because the Marines will expect more from you, that I can guarantee. The esprit de corps and pride that go with it make it worthwhile and your missions will definitely be more interesting. However, if you want to acquire rank quicker, the Army would be your best bet.
