No real difference. Not since the Navy decided to get into the ground warfare business in 1917. You will find different terminology -- "head" vs "latrine", et al; different customs and traditions; some different doctrines -- like building fighting positions to protect against airbursts or not. But mostly, they are both ground combat forces with a little bit of their own air assets. Your big differences will come in your assignments and duty stations -- Marines get all of the good ones, Army gets all the crappy ones. Army is still better. Hooah!

More respect in the Marines. Plus they're part of NAVY which kicks ass. I say Marines. Air force is another good choice. More people in the Airforce reenlist than any other branch. It has alot of perks. Do your research and find out which has the best benefits for you.

Join the Marines, then of you can't get through boot camp you can always join the Army. Really, my son is in the marines and he had to go to an Army base for some training. He said all the Army guys would offer him all kinds of respect. Army offers you money to join but Marines dont. Marines offer you a whole lot more

The Marines basic is longer due to combat water survival. There is a whole different way of thinking and strategy. If an Army infantry unit takes fire they Find Fix and Finish the enemy with suppressive fire and maneuvers. If a Marine infantry unit takes fire they try and mass fire and charge the enemy. It's like night and day. During the assault on Fallujah the Army's 1st Infatnry Division lead the way while the Marines followed to clean up the mess.
