I'm enlisted in the Marine Corps and am leaving for basic on August 20th?

What can i do to prepare mentally and physically for the task ahead??(mostly mentally)

First off: Start calling it "RECRUIT TRAINING" not "basic" (that's Army).

Second, listen to your recruiter. He/she will tell you what you need to know and what you need to do to get ready for MCRD. Make sure that you make it to EVERY Poolee function...they will help you immensely.

Mentally, honey, NOTHING is going to get you ready for what you are about to face. Just try to remember this: The Drill Instructors are paid to stress you out and yell at you...

YOU are paid to take it.

...it's nothing personal, no matter how personal it seems. They are trying to weed out the herd so only the ones with intestinal fortitude (guts) make it into the FMF (Fleet Marine Force).

IF you feel you Recruiter is not giving you the information you need to be appropriately prepared for Recruit Training, talk to the NCOIC (the boss) ~ as it is their JOB to help you be as prepared as you can be.
