Marines improper use of resources in Iraq.?

The marines are a section of the department of navy. Relatively ill provisioned and equipped for campaign and garrison. That's what the army is all set up to do and to do well. So why are marines still deployed in Iraq when the department of army is much better organised for a protracted campaign?
Ah yes, resupply.

Forgot about that factor.

It still seems to me though the army, by design, is better set up.

To be honest, with the Iraq thing, it'd be better for you all to be home.
