Question About US Marines?

Ive read that the marines have no actual special forces, but they do have troops that are trained like them (the MEU). Then I heard that there is a special forces group called the Marine Force Recon which is equivalent to the Green Berets. Is this an actual special force and are they just like the green berets? thank you

Your wrong..the Force Recon has been integrated into a unit called MARSOC...This is all rather new as not to many Marines know of this..Recon still exist and is very elite but at a lower level..Its complicated to understand if you dont know how each one works.

The Marines never looked at themselves as having special forces or elite units..They consider each of them to be simply Marines but to answer your question yes there are elite Marine Corps units.

And the MEU is not a elite unit in the special forces sense..A MEU is an infantry unit which is special mission ready and is often found aboard Navy ships..

I was part of a MEU and I was not special in any way..Its the capabilities of the entire unit that makes a MEU kick ass capable.

Yes, marine doesn't need too many special force, since all of them in general is hightly trained to combat. And they are smaller force compare to other branch.

Marine Force Recon is a specialized group to the Marines just like the Green Berets are to the Army. All military branches go throught the same training as far as special forces groups. Im not sure where you read that the Marines dont have special forces, but that information is bad. Also if you ask anyone they will tell you that A Marine is a special force all in themselves.

we dont call them special forces but they are very very high quality Marines.
