How hard is it to get an infantry slot as an officer in the Marine Corps?

Just wondering how competative it is, and b/c of the war, are there more and more slots avaliable? And also, how would you pursue force recon as an officer in the marines? Thanks.

promotion will be faster in a combat arena due to loss of personell and heroism and awards being given. Experience on the battlefield will get you promoted very quickly. (Purple heart means you didn't get out of the way)

It is VERY easy to get an infantry officers slot - and when you do? Remember to listen to your seargents and staff seargents, they know more than you and will train you in becoming more effective because most have seen combat already and know what they are doing....

Chesty - learn how to spell, then you're vast knowledge of the military will be more impressive.

Still need a college degree, any degree will do for infantry, I believe you can get a degree in botany if you want, you just need a degree. Of course a technical degree will serve you better.

Force Recon, I would talk to the recruiter and tell them that's what you want to do....don't do ANYTHING UNLESS.....you get it in writing....

Well, you need a college degree to be an officer.

Just get an online basket weaving degree. Keep your GPA above 2.0. Try not to get more than three or four felonies or too many DWIs while your at it.

You will be a Marine Corps officer in no time.
