I have two sites addressing different markets, one in the UK and the other in...

...the US ...? but they are hosted on the same server, which is based in the UK (1and1).

Should I move my US oriented site to a US based server (I have an account with Hostgator) in the hope that it will be better seen by its target US audience (or achieve a better ranking in the US search engine listings) or should I leave it where it is? I've heard that I will lose my current page rank and "age authority" and other good things if I move it. What should I do?
