NC - child support?

I moved here from another state and have been trying since Nov 07 to get NC to transfer the case but nothing is happening. Called previous state, got copy of order, copy of divorce decree, phone number and person to have NC speak to....is it just this slow? I should be getting twice the amount I sometimes get (wording in divorce papers stating my orig $ reduced so he could use the extra to visit - never has in 3 yrs - haven't heard from him in 2).

You're lucky some states tell you that you can not move out of the area. Often they give custody to the parent that stays put.

Have you actually gone through DCSS in North Carolina?They may be calling and trying to get a hold of him, but if he himself has relocated, they are not going to be successful.DCSS is amazingly slow. They do a people search about once every 3 months, using his ssn#. But if he is working under the table, there will be no luck.

sounds like you should talk to a lawyer. keep track of all his contact with the kid, doesn't sound like theres much to keep track of but very important!! GOOD LUCK

The following website has the local information on who you should contact depending on what county you live in. My case is in N.C. They will take your income and your x's income and spit out a number. There is a calculator on this website.
