Why do people think that never married is worse than divorced?

If you tell someone that you are 40 and divorced, they think 'Oh, that's too bad'. If you tell someone that you are 40 and never been married, they think 'Wow, what's wrong with you'?

I anyways will prefer a man who is 40 and never married. Coz I am 27 and not married I hate all that excess baggage people carry around
