| If the marriage is not recognized by the state authorities, then no divorce can be obtained. It's a big question these days for lots of Mexicans who married in Mexico, are now in the U.S., and want a divorce. Their marriage is not recognized in any U.S. or state courts, so no divorce is possible. We know of quite a few of these cases, where one or the other is trying to obtain a divorce in order to marry an American citizen, thinking this will keep them from being deported. |
