United States Divorce agreement for a International couple?

A married couple from Lebanon came to the states. They had a child and mother files for a divorce. The father has been in the U.S. going to school and working part-time to pay child support while separated. The father's school was finished and he was to return back to the Lebanon. Then the divorce was final. The attorney's confronted the judge as if the father was still in the states and working. (he's not) They ordered him to pay child support based on his working salary. Now he is in Lebanon with out a job. Father wants to continue to give the child money (as any sane father would) but does not have a job there or can't pay the monthly support that the U.S. has ordered. Lebanon's pay scale is much lower than the U.S.'s. What can he do?
