Do you think i have the right to decide where i want to live? (divorced parents)?

i am 14 and i want to spend the majority of the time with my mom. i have told my dad but he wont have any of it. i am going to talk to my school counselor, but i think i have the right to decide for myself. what do you think?

i think that you do have a say in it but you should spend equal time with both your parents. and in some cases it is natural for girls to want to spend more time with your mother

Personally, I think that you do, but unfortunately, legally you don't have that option. At 18 you can choose to go where you want, but until then, you must follow what the legal system says.

I'm 12. My parents were never married but they split up. It used to be that I lived most of the time with my mom and part time with my dad. I was like 5. Its the same now Its just that I have more control over who I want to stay with. As you get older you have more power. At my Age I can even decide if I want to live with someone full time. But I like seeing both of them. My advise would be to talk to your mom and tell her. If you can't do that then tell your counselor. And yes. You do have rights. So, good luck and hope that this works out!!!
