| Yes - but not for any of the reasons you listed. Typically, men are in position where they make more income and are thus entitled to less palimony (not alimony - that's for women) However, if a man is married to someone who makes significantly more than they do, they might be awarded palimony. however, in most cases, courts don't reward alimony at all - unless there is a significant amount of income involved, or unless it is physically impossible for the woman/man to work. They might award "maintenance" for a short period of time until the former spouse can find a job. |

| Excluding CA., yes. tradition states that the man is the prime support. Usually, women are more negatively affected by divorce and loss of income. Usually the man is able to pay his way there being a 60%-40% wage discrepancy toward men. Judges are less likely to award alimony to men, and lower amounts for this reason. Ca., however, with Hollywood skewing incomes and life styles, takes a more studied view. It recognizes domestic partnerships, gives "palimony" to the unwed, etc. |
