Don't you find it rather fascinating how so many parents expect/want their...

...kids to wait until marriage? I just asked a question and many of the responses mentioned how they want their daughter to wait until marriage. Don't fool yourselves. Only 10 percent of people wait and even if I do want to wait until marriage, I really don't expect that for my children. What do you alll think?
I don't have a scientific study, but A LOT of parents mention how they want their kids to wait; more than 10% thats for sure

We want our children to wait because we wished we had waited for the person we are married to now. I know that is most likely unrealistic but I really want them to understand the impact having sex will have on their lives. Casual sex demoralizes and diminishes a person's self worth. Having sex as teens just creates bigger problems when they get older.

I wouldn't expect it of my children, nor would I ask it of them. I think it's unrealistic.

I will try to wait and hope that I secsead in that, but if not then that's that, they want their kids to wait because of the old ways wanted that and that what happens if there is no one to help the kid with out one parent.

I would want them to so they can be better than I am. I'm not going to be all anal about it but I wouldn't want her to make a mistake and find herself sleeping with a guy who means nothing to her and not realize it until after. I wish I would have waited for the guy I have now... sigh.
