The economy.

Think about it. What are some of the top 2 things people fight about? sex and money.

With a crappy economy, there is less money. less money means more fight. More fights means less sex.

With arguments about money, and one or the other not getting it as much as they want, you have a recipie for disaster. Give it another generation and I bet things will turn around once all the rapid societal changes catch up with with people. Societies evolve much like animals. They go through times when tehre is possible extinction or illnesses, disease, as their bodies adapt to changes in environment but then evntually the species flourishes after the generations adapt to the environments.

Its the cycle of life.

we just happen to be in that phase where everything happened so fast, esspecially in regards to technology. This technology made the world a smaller place, it's the spark that led to the gas prices going up so much in recent years. More demand worldwide.

Take any one of Aiyana L's answers and you can relate it back to the economy and the working conditions of both partners in recent years compared to years like the 50's and 60's.
