Paul McCartney was ordered to pay Heather Mills $33 MILLION plus $15.5 million in assets PLUS $70k a year in child support after being married for 4 years. Are you serious!? What entitles this B*** to ANY of his money!? Was she around during the Beatles era!? Did she have ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE MONEY HE EARNED!?

Does ANY woman, who marries a man who is a millionaire, deserve MILLIONS of dollars once they are divorced? Yeah I hear the argument about how they lived that way for 10 years and should keep living that way but you know what? If they didn’t earn ANY of that money THEN OH WELL. Time to go back to a normal life and get over it.
If I made $100,000 a year at my current job for 5 years which afforded me a nice life then they fired me, would I be justified in taking my company to court and saying “Well I lived like this for 5 years so you need to keep paying me 100k a year for the rest of my life!” The answer is no, but when divorce happens these women get MILLIONS of dollars that they had NOTHING to do with earning.

Look at Michael Jordan’s wife, they divorced and she got something like $100 million dollars in the settlement, are you f’ing serious!? Does ANYONE need that amount of money to live on? He doesn’t either but HE EARNED IT, she did not. I don’t believe there should be ANY settlement in ANY divorce. Why are you entitled money just because you were married to someone? Guess what, if you were a stay at home mom for 10 years that was YOUR choice. Your children deserve support, but you need to go out and get a job and be an adult.
What are your thoughts on this? I want GOOD answers, anyone who responds with nasty rude comments will be reported. Give me a good argument FOR or AGAINST this and the best of either will get best answer.

I don't believe this is fair for MEN or WOMEN. If I married a rich woman who was a millionaire NO I would not feel entitled to HER money.

Being a self reliant man I would not want a handout just because my ex wife was rich. I would go out and make my own living.

It's not the fact of courts or laws, it's the entitlement to the money that Mills had that drove me crazy. She believes she DESERVES millions of dollars for being married to him, as do many other men/women in that situation.

Plain and simple, if I didn't earn it, I don't deserve it and don't want it. Unless I took part in winning something like the lottery which I invested money into.
NT, very well said. Shocking response I thought I wouldn't get from a woman. I make a decent living and can afford "designer" clothing and what not but i chose not to purchase it. I purchased a nice car and that was it.

I still shop at walmart, target, and wherver I feel is going to save me money. Even though I can afford the nicer shops, it's not now, and never has been important to me.
Lots of details I know, the laws in the UK and the US are not much different when it comes to divorce settlements. The example I gave of Michael Jordan and his wife was right here in the US and she got TONS more money than Mills did.

We do not know all of the facts of why their marriage fell apart. I am not trying to justify the award but unless one knows something about the background and the laws in the UK you are only speculating. I understand that there was no pre-nup. Shame on Paul for not covering that base.

Reverse it. If you married a millionaire woman and divorced, wouldn't you want part of her millions? True, what Heather Mills got WAS excessive and beyond what the normal person would need to live on, but be real. If you were in her shoes, you would have wanted the same thing.
