Should we divorce?

[Hopeful]

We've been married for almost 5 years, most of that time living in developing countries. We returned to the US recently for grad school. We fight a lot. He's hit/shoved me on a handfull of occasions, never on my face. He's left sore spots/small bruises on my arms on 2 occasions. He's called me a stupid c*nt in front of his mom, and he's gone weeks without speaking to me on a couple of occasions. We have no kids. I've been going to a counsellor. He's gone once, but didn't mention that he's hit me. We'll be going to joint sessions soon. I know that I haven't been seriously hurt, but I'm not sure I can or want to forgive him. I don't want to divorce, but I'm unhappy. In some ways he's a very good person; we've been through a lot together living abroad. Within the last month, he's been going out of his way to be nice to me. I'm interested in a guy at school. I know a new relationship would have problems too. An affair isn't an option. Advice please.
