marriage problems. What would you do?

my husband and I are having a lot of problems right now. Our arguments are getting worse. It gets to the point where we are calling each other names and he would call me names such as bitch and whore. and I feel its so disrespectful. I am getting fed up with it. every time I say that i'm going to leave, I never do. I don't know why. so my question to you is what would you do and what makes a person leave their significant other?
