divorce and children???

I recently divorced and I'm a mother of two boys, 6 and 8. I have taken the role of the "bad guy" because I'm the disciplinarian and teacher and my ex buys the boys and leaves it to me to be the fall guy when it comes to teaching.

I'm heartbroken when my boys visit my ex because they don't really want to talk to me and if they do it's because I'm interrupting their video games or they tell me what dad bought for them lately.

I wonder if they are angry with me?

What do I do? How can I cope with the pain of knowing that they prefer my ex over me. I'm not about to start playing the game and out-buying him or let them run loose without any rules and get whatever they want to win them over.

Is there anyone else that has been through this?? Help please.
