arranged marriage? my partner left me for an arranged marriage, is anyone else

in this situation? after returning to india to ask his parents permission to stay with me (white Irish girl) they demanded that he come home and instantly started looking for an indian wife for him. they made it impossible for him to stay with me - saying that it would ruin the respectability of the family back in india and that it was selfish of him to demean his family and that he would be dead to them.
is anyone else in my situation? im so heartbroken and just cant seem to get it together. it hurts me so much to think of him being forced to marry someone else. he is my man.
any encouragement please, no one understands.
