| Can a divorced Catholic dad married in Presb. church & Catholic unwed mother marry... ...in a Catholic church? Ex hubby and I were married in Presby church and divorced, but we have 2 children from the marriage. He remarried another women at the JP's and since divorced from her. Now engaged to a unwed Catholic mother and desires Catholic wedding. Can they get married in a Catholic ceremony (church) without our marriage being annulled? |

| No they will need an annulment...my fiance and i just went through the process (he is divorced). However, it only took a month to file all the paperwork because his first marriage was not in the Catholic church. There are certain guidelines regarding annulment, it can either take a month or up to a year depending on the circumstances. I have a feeling he will have to do the long annulment since he has already been married twice...it should not affect you very much, he will just have to mention what caused your divorce. I am not 100% sure if the church will contact you or not. Hope this helps. |
