| Nope. I was with a man for 15 years. I loved him, he loved me, but marriage wasn't the right thing for us. I eventually wanted to get married, so I broke it off with him and found someone I did want to marry. Being in love (even long-term, comitted love) isn't enough to warrant marriage without other critical elements. It was important to me for my husband to be someone that I know will be there for me no matter what. The 15-year guy is the type who would leave when things got hard (like serious illness or other difficulties). My fiance was right there with me through cancer and financial difficulty. That's a keeper. |

| My opinion is that people who *think* they love each other have a mutual sexual desire born into every human being, whether it be heterosexual or homosexual. If it is a bonefide attraction between a man and a woman, and they fall TRULY "in love", and their desire, as sanctioned by modern society, is to finally "become as one" and mate, so as to reproduce their species following the 'Laws of Nature'; then they KNOW that they are truly in love and not only want, but NEED to get married in order to protect their offspring legal rights as heirs. I believe that others who THINK they are in love do not TRULY want to get married unless there is some immediate material gain to be derived from doing so. |
