How can I be sure that in a divorce, my spouse will end up with the house

payments and the house? Our house is an albatross. My husband starts projects and doesn't finish it. I do not want this house, but I cannot afford to get stuck making the payments. I will be the one with the steady job. Since I won't be able to afford the house if I'm renting an apartment, how do I ensure that I no longer have to make the house payments. (I also want to move the kids out of here as well).

Any advice?
I'm definitely going to get an attorney, but before I spend money on a retainer, I need to determine certain issues.
