We had to pay and plan our wedding all by ourselves.

We had a 13 month engagement because that was how long it took us to save the money needed! And thank god we had 13 months, cause doing it all by yourself is HARD!

We got engaged in June of last year and our wedding is at the end of March... nine months altogether and I feel totally ready, the wedding could even be sooner and I'd be fine!

We are having a midsize wedding, about 100 people, 10,000 budget.... very personalized.... and it's been great, I'd say plan and do a lot early so you are done early and can relax and take care of all the little stuff that crops up.... I figure I could have done this in a couple of months bc I'm super organized, but I would recommend 6 months to a year... just so you can enjoy being engaged, it's really fun too!!!

The preparation time depends on the type of wedding....but it takes a lifetime to prepare, live and endure the marriage!

my best friend is getting married next week. she was proposed to in i think september. she was going to have it a year later, that next september, but got things done so quickly that she moved it to march.

it all depends on how fast you get things done. whether you find the right place to have it, the right dress, just about everything! but dont do anything in a rush! sometimes i wish she kept the wedding date to september so that I would have time to do things for the wedding as well.

just think about everything you need to do and plan it out from there! good luck and congrats!
