Bro. Charles Martin Thanks for the link but however I think everyone knows about Military.com. Many people don't like the commercilization of websites and you can see here at Hiramstravels.com that there is nothing for sale. I remember when military.com first started and had the firmest of intentions not to go commercial in the least, well low and behold their true business plan used by many websites came to the forefront.
I pay for this server out of my own pocket; yes it's an entire server and not a virtual domain. I bought and pay for software for this webserver out of my own pocket. Think I am rich? Nope this is my charity and keeps me busy and you don't get rich off of the VA. Can you say the same for Military.com?
Instead of trying to get people to go elsewhere, why not conscribe to the opposite. If you really know what a True Mason is then you know what the term "Penny" equates too.
Why not put up on your Blog for all veterans to go to Military.com?? Or better yet if I went to your blog and put in my own resume instead of yours? Equates to the same thing.
I'm not here to lambast anyone but I fail to see a coorelation to your rationale....
Here I will help you in your endeavor for your job search Charles Martin | Personal Portfolio

Regards

Re: Calling military masons active/retired/veteran

First, I am not looking for work. I already have a job in Iraq.
I am not in this for money either. I am one of the "unofficial" moderators on the military freemason discussion group on military.com

I have listed our discussion group on many other masonic discussion boards, all of them are glad to carry the listing as a courtesy. Most masonic discussion groups could care less about supporting masonic veterans and the active duty force in Iraq/Afghanistan.

If you feel that my listing is inappropriate, feel free to delete it.

Charles: you still miss my point. It's all fine and dandy. I think Military.com's model started off as come one, come all; Then switched to their current business model and their bottom line is to make lots of money. I've been on the Net since it was a blinking cursor. I remember when places like Yahoo, AOL would have their owners answer the phone because it was that's the way it was evolving and everyone worked together. The days of the BBS's are long gone along with the PPP dialers and Telnet and with that has come the commercial Net.
I know for a fact where Military.Com has gotten most of their Info from; from the backs of other small niche sites and pooled their info to the determent of those said niche markets. Sure they are huge now and making money, lot's of it.
I remember when Military.com hardly had any users and the Niches held their own, But these days with Data mining and IPO's have come at a cost. I coorelate it to dairy farmers being taken over by comglomerates and we all all know what happened to the dairy industry and their estates being auctioned off for peanuts.
Being no Military.com Fan here, I rely on other assets of other contributions and that being Masons giving their "Penny/Token" to other Masons and not to some Huge company that could care less about Freemasonary. Masonary needs to get back to "The Basics". There are tons of Masons in the Military.
Do I like Military.com?, nope not in the least. In fact I am tired of getting emails about "How to survive Boot Camp" and Or trying to sell me something all under the auspices of commercialization.
The Only thing I am selling is Masonry. This website is only over a year old, before that I ran on my own, the Biggest Disabled Veterans site to help All Disabled Vets out there and did over 500 claims myself.
Now I am Co-Focusing on Freemasonary along with Freemasons that are in the Military. I don't have a Business Model or a Hidden Agenda, that being my Point. Masons should help other Masons and not some commercial driven enterprise where profit is their driven bottom line.
Another point is Masonic charities to of which needs all the help that we can muster, Wether it be the Charities of a Fallen Masons's family to the Charities of The York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shriners and all appendant bodies of Freemasonary.
I won't delete your Link, the only ones I delete are from all the Spammers selling Porno, Sex and the Like.
This is just some food for thought............
Throw your "Penny" in here and be a Moderator. I Need all the help I can get lol. That goes to anyone that wants to help, it's easy.
