Re: Does anyone have experience with "Square and Compasses Clubs"? Howdy: I have experience with the "High Twelve" or "International High Twelve". We would meet once or twice a month informally at a restraunt, just to get together and it was always held during the day. It's something upon the lines of which you mention. I've never heard of "Square and Compass" events but it doesn't surprise me because I am in Wisconsin and things are done differently all over.
Anything that promotes Freemasonary is a Plus with myself. It is a lot of work though but many hands make it a lot easier. Most states go dark in the summer so as to have time with the family, of which is important indeed. I know myself when we go dark there is nothing much to do and I miss the commarderie, wether it be camping or a BBQ etc.
I don't write the by-laws or charters nor warrants, but I do wish there was more to do when we do go dark in the summer months. I quess it all depends on the environment. If you are in a Huge company like Boeing or for that matter in a huge populated area then there is a higher success rate to get Events scheduled and successfully Kicked off to the enjoyment of all and thus promoting the Craft.
I know myself since getting out of the Army, my circle of friends has drastically been cut and about the only friends I have are all Masons. But in the Summer, I do a LOT of gardening and people, strangers, passerbys will always stop to admire whatever it is I am doing in my garden. It's great to talk to people that otherwise I would never get a chance to meet nor talk too. It never fails that someone will ask about my Masonic and US Army Emblems that I have on my house and Bingo; we start talking about something besides Gardening. It still amazes me that most people do not know what Masons's are, they know about Shriners etc but the regular Foot Soldiers they now knowing about. I get asked over and over, can Catholics, Jewish people join and other religious questions and I always have to correct them. So being in my Garden is a great way to promote the craft for myself and the same people will always Honk or wave Hello when they go by again.
You asked a very Good Question.......... |
