Re: a QUESTION FOR FREEMASON AND ILLUMINATI?

I'm not a mason, yet but have made the decision to petition the lodge here.

As I've researched prior to making my decision I've found an amazing amount of negativity. This question blows me out of the water.

Did these people's boyfriends and girlfriends, mothers and fathers tell them about the initiation rites into their college fraternities and sororities?

The mason's do not seem to be a "secret society" but more of a society with secrets (that happen to be blabbed all over the internet). It's a group of men with common interests and community goals.

Why is there such negativity?

Thumbs up Re: a QUESTION FOR FREEMASON AND ILLUMINATI?

Good people, Bad people. As a Freemason all I have ever seen are Great people. As far as your Secrets comments. The Freemasons are not a Cult, nor a Religion nor Secret. It's a fraternity, the oldest in the world. It's a Worldwide Organiziation for the betterment of all Mankind. Alas to say there are Ignorant or self serving institutions, individuals; that have nothing good to say about anything let alone a Charitable Organization. I personally fell for some of the Rumor control and old wive's tales about Freemasonary UNTIL I educated myself by finding out the facts for myself. Not by reading anti masonary but by talking to the Freemasons themselves and I was astonished on what I took for granted was based on misinterpretations of others and falling for the "Bad News Bears" Syndrome. Certain People, the media and institutions love negativity and it sells their own self centered interests.

==I am a Mason, 25 years in the Craft. We are a men's organization, and becaused we are composed of men, there are both good and bad people in Masonry. Fortunately, many more good than bad. Benjamin Franklin, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, and many Christian ministers and leaders are/were Masons.

Although not a service organization, nor a charity, Masonic (and appendant and concordant) organizations, donate about $2.6 million dollars per day to various charitable and service causes.

The Shriner's Hospitals (a masonic concordant organization) runs a network of 22 orthopaedic and burns hospitals, where all treatment is provided free. Any child up to the age of 18 receives all treatment free.

see Shriners - Welcome.

The Scottish Rite (Southern Jurisdiction), runs a network of 100 speech/language/hearing disorder clinics, where children are treated at low cost or no cost.

see Scottish Rite Freemasonry - Welcome to the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, USA

The York Rite of Freemasonry, supports many medical research programs, including research into Alzheimer's, Schizophrenia, Diabetes, etc. Also research into diseases of the eye, and sight restoration surgery.

The York Rite, also has a program, which sponsors Christian pastors, to get a free all-expenses paid trip to Israel, and visit the brithplace of Christ, get baptized in the Jordan River, etc.

see www.yorkrite.org

The Grotto supports dentistry for the handicapped. Handicapped children and adults receive free dental care, and other dental treatment, including orthodontia.

see Humanitarian Foundation - Special Needs Dentistry Assistance

Nothing in Masonry and the over 100 appendant and concordant bodies is kept secret. There are thousands of books and internet web sites, where all of Masonry's goals and statements of purpose are broadcast out for all the world to see. Many masonic organizations have public relations programs and outreach efforts to publicize their efforts to the community.

Please see Masonic Service Association

Masonry has traditionally served the community, quietly, without a lot of fanfare or publicity (I do not agree with this policy). The Shriner's Hospitals are probably the most public and well-known activity of all of the Masonic and appendant bodies efforts to serve humanity.

There are many more programs. The High-Twelve, supports scholarship programs, to enable individuals to obtain graduate degrees in Government and public administration.

see High Twelve International, Inc.

I could go on for hours, detailing the various charitable and humanitarian programs of the Masonic/appendant organizations. If you have any specific questions, or wish to learn more about Masonry (including various women's and co-educational masonic groups), please send me a PM, or post your questions here.
