Brethren All:

As most of you may have heard by now, the Grand Master's cancer
has returned. A tumor growing in the throat area blocked his airway
resulting in his having to undergo emergency surgery Wednesday
afternoon in order to insert a breathing tube in the trachea.

Brother Eli has been on a respirator but he has been, or is being
weaned from it. He has been moved from ICU into a room at Chandler
Hospital in Savannah.

R.W. Brother Ted C. Collins, DGM has visited with the Grand Master and
advises that MW Brother Eli is alert and coherent. Brother Collins reports
that the Grand Master is the same Eli with the same upbeat, positive outlook as always.

The Grand Master's schedule will be in the mail shortly, but in most cases
his appointments, at least for the immediate future, will be kept by another Grand Lodge Officer or Past Grand Master. The Grand Master has agreed to this and Brother Collins will be coordinating this effort.

For those of you who have an extensive address book, feel free to disseminate this information as you wish. I will update this report as information is made available.

Please keep MW Brother Eli and First Lady Lilly Mae in your prayers.

Brethren and All, I just got off the phone talking with the Grand Master. He said he would like all to know that he is doing better and the doctor has removed the trache tube yesterday. Now he needs to heal from the surgery. He appears to be in good spirits and is gaining strenth every day. Still keep him and the family in your prayers. Fraternally, Don DeKalb.
