| SAT Subject Tests: What's the difference between Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2? I need to register, but I don't know which one to take. I'm in pre-calc now, but i dont know if math 2 will still be too difficult. Does anyone know what's on each test?? I'm assuming Math 2 looks better to colleges, but I don't want to dig myself a hole here. Help! |

| You should be fine with Math 2. Math 2 tests: * Number and Operations * Algebra and Functions * Geometry and Measurement (coordinate, three dimensional, and trigonometry) * Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability Math 1 tests: * Number and Operations * Algebra and Functions * Geometry and Measurement (plane euclidean, coordinate, three dimensional, and trigonometry) * Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability Mathematics Level 1 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken three years of college-preparatory mathematics, including two years of algebra and one year of geometry. Mathematics Level 2 is a broad survey test intended for students who have taken college-preparatory mathematics for more than three years, including two years of algebra, one year of geometry, and elementary functions (precalculus) and/or trigonometry. Math level 2 will look better to colleges also. |
