what is math analysis?

i'm a junior who is currentky in algebra 2 and, out of curiosity, i just want to know what is math analysis(or pre-calculus) in brief.

what am i going to expect in the subject?
what kind of concepts from algebra I, geometry, and algebra II do i have to remember to do well in the class?

how hard is it?

personally, i'm really excited to take it next year because math is really my favorite subject!

thanks in advance!

Math analysis is basically prep for calculus. You'll definetly have to remember concepts from Algebra 1 & 2, not so much Geometry. Algebra is of both levels is EVERYTHING in pre-cal. So make sure you know your Algebra inside and outside.

If you do your homework and study for the tests, then a strong math person like you shouldn't really have a problem with it. Yes, there will be a lot more to cover, I'm talking A LOT. But there's no need to be intimidated by it, really.

Math analysis (my informal definition) is the study of equations and functions of real variables.
real variables are variables that can take on any value on the number line.

From algebra know your rules for solving equations and also how to translate word problems into equations.

From Geometry its good to know how to sketch and label drawings to set up equations. Also your your geo axioms. (Pythagorean theorem, triangle properties, opp angle, comp. and supp., transversal rules)

You should also know graphing of equations and plotting points.

This is a short list of the things that come to mind as most commonly called upon.
