Money he's got - a fractional part he spend = what was left

80 pence - 1/4(80) pence = what was left
80 pence - 20 pence = what was left
60 pence = what was left

Fraction that do not wear glasses:
= no. of who does not wear/total people
= (64 - 24)/64
= 40/64
= 5/8

Answer: 5/8 do not wear glasses.

Fraction wat a nightmare, best advise:
1stQ:
80*1/4, that give you wat1/4 is in 80p, then substract wat the result is goin to be outta 80p to find out wat's remaining.
2ndQ:
that is easy: see it as 24/64, check the similarities that those two numbers have:
24= 8*3
64=8*8
so that gives 3 and 8 which in fractions wud translated as 3/8
Takes that to tackle the other question you have, do as many as you could then u won't find them hard to tackle.....

80 pence times 1/4 means 80 times 1 then divided by 4.
Which is 20. So that is what he spends.
He has left what he had minus what he spends so 80 - 20 = 60

If 24 out of 64 do not wear glasses so 64 -24 = 40 do wear glasses.

40 divided by 64 is the fraction

=40/64 but 8 is a common factor of 64 and 40 so dividing the top and bottom by 8 gives

= 5/8

Puzzling has a spectacular aura about
PROBLEM 1:

80 / 4 = 20
He spent 20 pence.

80 - 20 = 60
He has 60 pence left.

PROBLEM 2:

24 of the people do.
64 - 24 = 40
40 people do not.

The fraction would be:
40/64

But you can reduce this by dividing by 8:
5/8

Answer:
5/8 of the people do not where glasses.

The other way you could do this is to turn the first number into a fraction (24/64 = 3/8) then subtract from 1. 1 - 3/8 = 8/8 - 3/8 = 5/8. Either way you get the same answer.
