I took a one day yeast infection medicine on Sunday night.....?

I thought I was getting better the last couple days and today, I feel just as itchy. Do those one day medications work well? Should I get a seven or three day and start over? I hate yeast infections and it's rare for me to get them. I am nursing my nine month old baby, and got my first period since before pregnancy at the same time the yeast infection started. I thought that was weird and even more uncomfortable. Does a period sometimes cause a yeast infection?
