| Over-the-counter medicine to help calm nerves?
I pretty sure I have some sort of anxiety disorder. For no good reason at all, I get very tense and nervous when in public or around large crowds of people. Whatever this disorder may be, It is making it extremely difficult for me to perform normal task like deliver presentations or to simply function properly when around lots of people. For quite some time I thought I had a petty case of stage fright, but now I'm begging to believe it is more serious. During periods of anxiety, my arm begins to tighten, sort of like when a doctor performs a blood pressure test on you. My heart rate begins increasing drastically so that it becomes difficult to breath properly and much more so to talk. I begin shaking particularly badly in my hands and legs. If I'm holding a piece of paper, you'd see it quiver quite noticeably and if I'm standing I always find myself holding on to something to keep my balance stable.
I'm not an elderly person; in fact, I turned 20 last year. I thought I would eventually grow out of this but never did. So my question is: is there any over-the-counter medicine to relieve me of this anxiety?
