what the U.S. is holding back from Africa is funding for condoms.

The US has refused to fund groups that do not teach abstinence to Africans and that offer abortions. Essentially, the US is depriving Africa of protection from AIDS because it would prefer they learn abstinence as prevention.

This policy is ignorant and is doing immeasurable damage to Africa.

Who will pay for it? I didn't give the people in Africa AIDS, why should I pay for their treatment? Plenty of people in my country need medical care. My tax money should be spent caring for them first. Then if any is leftover SELL it to other countries. Heart disease kills 3 times as many people as HIV, why do we spend 5 times as much on HIV research? As for Rev. Wrights remarks, why would the US government want to kill people in a foreign country? It seems like they will kill all those labeled as "undesirable" here first. Quit trying to play on peoples sympathy over something that happened before any of us were born!

There are drugs that can prolong people's lives, but not prevent or cure AIDS.

He neglects to say who should pay to give these drugs to all the people who have it in Africa.

Oh, and build the infrastructure to get the drugs to where they are needed. And train all the doctors, and stop all the rebel groups that kill health care workers, and educate the people who still think that sex with a virgin will cure it, and educate the people about condom use while fighting all the religious groups that won;t let you teach them and.......

He has a very simplistic world view for a very complex problem. It's so much easier to rail against all the "Them's" that are out there then to actually do something about the thousands of problems involved in actually solving a crisis of this magnitude.

Can *you* suggest how they are supposed to get refrigerated medicine to the tiny little villages that are three days walk apart with no roads and no electricity?

There are people right here in the US with HIV/AIDS who cannot get the medicine.

I can never agree with any US organization who promotes another nation OVER our own.

Of course he's not right, in fact his head is screwed on backwards.
If you remember, a few years ago, the blacks here and in Africa accused the white people of inventing some of these diseases just to eliminate the black race, and some seem to forget that the American drug manufacturers and the tax money from the public is paying for the most of the drugs necessary for them to fight aids in Africa.
