| Child Medicine Issues: What do you do?
My 3 yr old started running a temp of 103 Friday. We called the ped who told us to wait it out for 3 days and if it persisted to take her in but until then (Monday) we have been rotating motrin and tylenol like they said to. Normally my daughter has no issues with taking meds other than she wants more and more. But this time she's refusing to take her tylenol (the same she's always taken, flavor and all) but will take the motrin just fine. I just tried to give her the tylenol and she keeps fighting like a mad cat and spitting it everywhere. I've tried sticking the syringe in the back of her cheek & throat, it still comes up. She throws her head around, so I try to hold it down. Not working either. The tylenol got all over her face and made it slippery. My husband is at work right now so I'm the only one who can hold her down and give her the meds... and yes she needs them b/c when we skip doses her temp goes straight back up to 102-103 in minutes... Anyone have a suggestion??
I have plans to take her to the doctor tomorrow. The ped spec said she only wanted to see her 3 days after it started which would be tomorrow... I'm just worried about her not taking the meds b/c we need to keep it down until then
And if she takes the meds it does stay down until the next dose
I guess what I'm asking... is there any other way I can get her to take her meds??????
