do doctors prescribe morphine in medicine form to be taken at home?

I thought you could only get morphine as a patient when you were in hospital, but a friend said you can get it in medicine form and take it at home. This has turned into a bet! Thanks in advance for any help...

Yes you can get it to take at home.

I know someone who took it at home, and it totally screwed her up as she was addicted to it.

Yes i was on morphine in hospital after a cancer operation and was offered it to take at home but declined, preferring to take something not so strong as, all is well now (I hope)

Yes, I am currently taking it for post operative pain.
