| what is the difference of a branded medicine and a generic medicine in terms of... ...effectivity? I bought a tetracylcine generic medicine for the treatment of my acne. it only cost 4.80php each. before, i used to take tetralysal from galderma which cost 69php each. so its a big saving i think if you bought the cheaper one |

| There is no difference in the therapeutic qualities between a generic medication and a brand name medication. In order for a generic medication to be available on the market, it has to be approved by the FDA to be as safe and effective as the brand name drug. The reason that a generic medication costs so much less is that brand name drug is because the brand name drug has a lot of development expenses to cover. It usually takes 10-20 years for a drug to be approved for human use. The company that develops the med spent a lot of money researching and developing the drug. Therefore they have to sell the drug for a higher price to make up the millions of dollars that they spent developing that drug. |
