Pharmacy student has a spectacular aura about
Aleve is a NSAID containing naproxen. The active ingredient is also found in Naprosyn.
Other common NSAIDs are ibuprofen, diclofenac and aspirin.
Aleve has recently been related to an increased rate of MI and CI (heart attack and strokes).
A good substitute is voltaren which contains diclofenac or Fenac (prescription).
COX-2 inhibitors (Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra) can also be used but i would recommend that you go see your doctor.

The active ingredient in ALEVE is Naproxen sodium, 220 mg. ALEVE contains 200 mg of naproxen and 20 mg of sodium (salt) to help your body absorb ALEVE more quickly. It helps you feel pain relief faster than with naproxen alone. So when looking for a substitute this is what you should look for.
