Is right now still a good time to study medicine....eventually becoming a doctor?

Just curious. With all the hype about the govenment potentially turning to universal heathcare, is it really worth it to spend so much time, effort, and money towards becoming a doctor and attending a medical school? Eventually it seems, the occupation of a doctor would turn into a nightmare if souly dictated by the govenment. Also to all those doctors out there, how often are you sued for malpractice. Im not to intregued about potentially entering a business that gets sued often. What has your experience been like? Thanks for the help!!

I think you should think about what do you want to do not for pressure or even convenience but for you well being don't you think? Honestly I'm in the same position that you are in! I'm analyzing the fact that probably I won't have the success that I'm hoping to have, but for the other side the doctor career is one of the most concurred careers, and I just love medicine and human anatomy! Besides nobody will refuse a doctor in the future... of course you must have vocation, determination (and such a great stomach as well =)) and guts to start and finish your studies successfully!
